San Jose Barracuda News Release
BAKERSFIELD, CA -The San Jose Barracuda (2-1-0-0, 4pts) presented by Barracuda Networks grabbed a wild 4-3 victory over the host Bakersfield Condors (1-2-0-1, 3pts) in front of 4,242 fans at the Rabobank Arena on Saturday evening.
Micheal Haley (2-0-2), Bryan Lerg (1-0-1), and Trevor Parkes (1-1-2) scored for the Barracuda while Aaron Dell made 30 saves in net for San Jose in the victory. Chris Crane added two assists as San Jose battled back from a 3-2 deficit midway through the third period to take home their second straight road victory.
Goaltender Aaron Dell was the best player in the first period on either side as he made 13 first period saves as the Barracuda grabbed a 1-0 lead into the first intermission. Micheal Haley (3rd) scored the only goal of the period after he deflected a centering feed from the left corner by Ryan Carpenter that beat goaltender Eetu Laurikainen at 6:16. Shots stood 13-7 in favor of Bakersfield after 20 minutes.
Captain Bryan Lerg (2nd) gave San Jose a 2-0 lead at 2:30 of the second period after he collected his own rebound chance and stick handled the puck past the Condors netminder as Trevor Parkes and Chris Crane each picking up assists. The Barracuda were then whistled for three straight penalties and the Condors made them pay. Phillip McRae (1st) sent a one timer past Aaron Dell at 13:16 and Matthew Ford (2nd) tipped home the equalizer at 15:45 as Bakersfield scored a pair of power play tallies. Shots in the middle frame were 10-4 in favor of the Condors.
Bakersfield went ahead 3-2 after a strange goal at 3:53 of the third period. Matthew Ford (3rd) was credited with the goal after a long video replay as the officials deemed the puck was shot through the net. San Jose tied the score at 3-3 as Trevor Parkes (1st) jammed home the puck at 8:08 assisted by Joakim Ryan and Chris Crane. The Barracuda had a goal disallowed a few minutes later off the stick of Petter Emanuelsson as the score remained tied with less than five minutes remaining. San Jose connected on the power play at 16:41 as Micheal Haley (4th) scored again to give the Barracuda the 4-3 road victory.
