Sunday Showdown on Eddie Olczyk Night
October 18, 2015 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Rockford IceHogs News Release
Rockford, Ill.- The Rockford IceHogs (1-2-0-0) will get a second crack at the Texas Stars (3-0-0-0), one night after suffering a 5-2 loss on home ice at the BMO Harris Bank Center. The game is set for 4 p.m. as the IceHogs host Eddie Olczyk Night, courtesy of Pepsi.
Prior to the contest Olczyk will drop the ceremonial first puck while a special pregame video is being shown in his honor. "Eddie O" will sign autographs before the game until the start of the pregame festivities, and will return to sign during the first intermission. The first 250 fans in attendance will receive a wristband, and only fans with wristbands will be eligible to get an autograph.
Fans are also encouraged to bring their skates to the game as there will be a postgame Skate with the Hogs session. IceHogs players will join fans out on the ice for those who brought skates to the game, while some players will be stationed in the concourse near section 123 to sign autographs for those without skates. Skates will not be available for rent.
Tickets for today's game can be purchased by visiting IceHogs.com, calling 815-968-5222, or at the BMO Harris Bank Center Box Office, or any Ticketmaster outlet, including Walmart.
Today's game can be viewed on WIFR's Justice Network 23.3, Comcast Cable channel-434, or online through AHLlive.com for a small fee. Television coverage kicks off at 3:30 p.m. with the IceHogs Warm Up pre-game show. A free audio feed is available via wxrx.com. For instant updates throughout the game, follow the IceHogs on Twitter (@goicehogs).
After picking up a win on opening night, the IceHogs have dropped their last two contests, including last night's 5-2 loss to the Stars to open the home portion of their schedule.
The IceHogs will look to control a Texas offense that has gotten off to a fast start in 2015-16. Texas has put up 17 goals through their first three games of the season which tops the AHL. The Stars are led by red-hot rookie Devin Shore, who recorded a hat trick Saturday night against the IceHogs and ranks second in the AHL with six goals on the young campaign.
Meanwhile Rockford's offense has started off slow to start. After recording four goals on opening night a week ago, the IceHogs have only been able to muster two goals over the past two contests. Rockford will lean on forward Tanner Kero, who leads the team with three goals, and the team's all-time leading goal scorer, Jeremy Morin.
Next Home Game: Wednesday, Oct. 21 vs. Iowa Wild at 7p.m. The IceHogs welcome the Wild to Rockford for the first time this season. It's also the first "Winning Weekday" promotion of the season. Every time the IceHogs win at home on a weekday, each fan in attendance will receive a free ticket to the next weekday game. Fans can also enjoy $2 beers, hot dogs, and companion tickets.
