
Tampa Bay Lightning Reassign Defenseman Slater Koekkoek to Syracuse Crunch

SYRACUSE, N.Y. - The Tampa Bay Lightning have reassigned defenseman Slater Koekkoek to the Syracuse Crunch of the American Hockey League, Lightning vice president and general manager Steve Yzerman announced today.
Koekkoek, 6-foot-2, 198 pounds, was recalled on October 16 and played in the Lightning's game on October 17 against the Buffalo Sabres, logging 10:21 of ice time. He made his NHL debut with the Lightning last season on March 31 against the Toronto Maple Leafs and went on to play in three games with six shots on goal. He made his professional debut on October 12, 2014, with the Crunch. He led all Syracuse blue-liners last season for assists with 21 and points with 26.
A native of Mountain, Ontario, Koekkoek has played in 73 career AHL games, all with Syracuse, notching five goals and 26 points with a plus-7 rating. He also skated with the Crunch during the 2015 Calder Cup Playoffs and recorded one assist in three games.
Koekkoek, 21, was drafted by the Lightning in the first round, 10th overall, of the 2012 NHL Draft.
