San Diego Gulls Announce Roster Addition

SAN DIEGO - The San Diego Gulls announced today that the American Hockey League (AHL) club has signed defenseman Andy Welinski to an amateur tryout agreement (ATO).
Welinski, 22 (4/27/93), collected 6-13=19 points in 40 games with the University of Minnesota-Duluth of the National Collegiate Hockey Conference (NCHC) this season. The 6-2, 205-pound fourth-year senior was a Second-Team All-NCHC and named NCHC Defenseman of the Week three times in 2015-16. As captain of the Bulldogs, Welinski led team defensemen in scoring, goals, points per game (0.47) and plus/minus (+13) while co-leading in assists and assists per game (0.33). A native of Duluth, MN, Welinski recorded 24-53=77 points in 154 career games for his hometown team.
