June 20, 2019 - United Soccer League Championship (USL)
San Antonio FC News Release
SAN ANTONIO - San Antonio FC (4-7-4) will travel to face Fresno FC (5-2-7) at Chukchansi Park on Friday, June 21 at 9:30 p.m. CT. The game marks the first between the two clubs this season and their third matchup overall.
SAFC heads into the match after earning a point on the road against OKC Energy FC last Saturday thanks to a stoppage-time equalizer from midfielder Jack Barmby. The Alamo City club will look to build on a two-game unbeaten run after previously earning a thrilling 3-2 comeback victory against Reno 1868 FC on June 8.
Fresno FC will look to get back in the winning column after recording one victory in their last five matches, which came on May 22 against Austin Bold FC. The Foxes have recorded three draws and one loss since then and are currently in sixth place in the Western Conference. The club is also 2-1-3 when playing within the confines of Chukchansi Park.
San Antonio FC is unbeaten all-time against Fresno, posting a 1-0-1 clip against the California club in their only two matches against each other in 2018, during which SAFC recorded a 0-0 draw on the road and a 2-1 win at home.
After earning their first point on the road of the season last weekend, SAFC will look to earn their first victory away from Toyota Field while building on their momentum from the previous two matches. The club is currently in 15th place in the standings, however they are only three points away from finding themselves in a playoff position.
"It was important that we earned our first point on the road (last week), and now we've checked that box," SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell said. "Now we need to prepare for an even tougher match in Fresno on Friday and our players need to make sure they're ready both physically and mentally to go out there and give the best version of themselves."
