
San Antonio FC to Host FC Dallas in Fourth Round of U.S. Open Cup on June 6

SAN ANTONIO, TX - San Antonio FC will host FC Dallas (MLS) in the fourth round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday, June 6 at Toyota Field at 7:30 p.m. SAFC advanced to the fourth round after defeating the Colorado Springs Switchbacks FC (USL) in the third round on penalty kicks. Tickets to the Open Cup match will go on sale to the general public today at 4 p.m., and can be purchased by visiting SanAntonioFC.com or by calling 210-444-5657.
San Antonio has never faced FC Dallas in an official competition, but the two clubs have faced each other once in each of the last two preseasons. In 2016, SAFC fell 1-2 to FC Dallas prior to the start of the regular season, while SAFC earned a 2-0 win in prior to the 2018 campaign. FC Dallas won the U.S. Open Cup in 2016 after defeating the New England Revolution 4-2 in the final. The MLS side currently sits in fourth place in the MLS Western Conference standings with a 4-1-5 record.
As a benefit, San Antonio FC Season Ticket Members can secure their season seats for the fourth-round match by logging into their Account Manager in order to receive season ticket pricing for the game. Additional instructions for Members will be sent via email later today.
Following the conclusion of the fourth-round match, Toyota Field will host another 'Extra Time' postgame party which will take place behind the east concourse. 'Extra Time' will feature live entertainment, games and activities, and dollar beers at the Tap Inn craft beer trailer. The match against FC Dallas will also be Dollar Drink Night presented by Bud Light, which includes $1 beer and sodas throughout the stadium.
Last season, San Antonio FC advanced to the third round of the Open Cup, defeating the Houston Dutch Lions (NPSL) prior to falling to the Tulsa Roughnecks (USL) in penalty kicks on the road. In 2016, SAFC also advanced to the fourth round of the tournament before being eliminated by the Houston Dynamo (MLS). The match at Toyota Field on June 6 marks the third San Antonio FC Open Cup game to be hosted at home. SAFC defeated the now-defunct Corinthians FCSA 3-1 in May of 2016, before advancing on penalty kicks yesterday against the Switchbacks.
The Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup is the oldest national soccer competition in American history. Founded in 1914, the knockout-style competition consists of clubs from all tiers of the American soccer pyramid, including MLS, USL, PDL, NPSL and amateur clubs. In 1999, the competition was named after Hunt who remains one of the most influential pioneers in American soccer history.
