FC Cincinnati News Release
CINCINNATI - FC Cincinnati will host Major League Soccer's Minnesota United FC at Nippert Stadium in the fourth round of the 2018 Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday, June 6. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m.
After initially being drawn to host FC Cincinnati in the fourth round, Minnesota United FC confirmed to tournament organizers this afternoon that the club had only applied to host possible Round of 16 and Quarterfinal matches over the next three rounds and had not applied to host a fourth-round game because of a lack of a suitable venue on the scheduled date. After reviewing the original paperwork, U.S. Soccer concurred. As a result, FCC will host the game instead.
Tickets for the game will start at $15 and sales to Season Ticket Members will begin today. STMs will receive information via email later Thursday, and their exclusive presale window will run through 12 p.m. ET on Wednesday, May 30. During the exclusive presale window, Season Ticket Members can secure their same seat locations and/or purchase additional tickets.
Tickets will go on sale to the general public starting at 1 p.m. ET on Wednesday, May 30. All Nippert Stadium hospitality areas are also available for purchase by contacting the FCC Ticket Staff at 513-977-KICK (5425).
This is the second-straight year that FC Cincinnati has advanced to the fourth round of the U.S. Open Cup. The Orange & Blue won their opening second-round game against NPSL's Detroit City FC on May 16, earning a 4-1 victory after extra time. On May 23, FCC claimed a 3-1 road win over fellow USL club Pittsburgh Riverhounds SC in the third round.
The winner of the June 6 fourth-round match will advance to the Round of 16. U.S. Soccer will conduct the draw for the Round of 16 and Quarterfinal match-ups on Thursday, June 7.
FC Cincinnati is 7-2-1 all-time in the U.S. Open Cup. In 2017, FC Cincinnati advanced to the semifinals of the USOC, falling in extra time to MLS entry New York Red Bulls in front of a sell-out crowd of 33,250 fans at Nippert Stadium.
