San Antonio FC News Release
SAN ANTONIO, TX - San Antonio FC fell 0-1 against Oklahoma City Energy FC on Saturday at Toyota Field in front of 6,165 fans. The match marked the second consecutive week in which the two clubs faced off.
"It's a tough game to lose," said SAFC Head Coach Darren Powell. "We had the first shot of the game and the last shot of the game. We have to execute in these moments when they are there. The guys worked hard for those moments and they keep working until the last minute of the game."
The lone goal of the match came in the 58th minute when Energy FC forward Colin Bonner headed in a cross from teammate Sebastian Dalgaard to beat SAFC goalkeeper Josh Ford.
SAFC was unable to find a goal despite creating quality chances throughout the match. Midfielder Rafa Castillo had a close opportunity in the first half after shooting from a low cross, but his strike was denied by the crossbar.
The match was the second time the clubs met this season after they played to a 1-1 draw last weekend in Oklahoma. The goals came from SAFC forward Danny Garcia and Energy FC forward Danni König last week.
SAFC will return to action at home this Wednesday, May 25 as they host RGV FC for the second time this season in the second edition of the South Texas Derby. The match will be the fourth in 11 days for San Antonio.
