The first half was full of excitement. In the 12th minute, Rio Grande Valley FC Toros' Jose "Memo" Rodriguez collected the ball from a through pass and buried it into the lower corner to make the game 1-0. Memo got his brace when he found the net again in the 25th minute. The goal came off a very similar play, flipped to the left now, and assisted by Robert Casner. The Swope Park Rangers pulled one back in the 40th minute when Kristopher Tyrpak cut the ball back to Daniel Salloi.

In the 51st minute, Ranger's Zac Lubin made a save down low to deny Casner inside the box. In the 60th minute, the Swope Park Rangers got dangerously close to getting their second game. Rangers' Tyrpak redirected Kevin Oliviera's corner. Toros' Rob Lovejoy sneaked the ball through Rangers' goalkeeper Lubin, in the 89th minute to extend the Toros lead.
