Salem Red Sox News Release
Wilmington, DE (August 19, 2011) - For the second straight night, steady rain teamed with an ominous forecast, preventing Salem and Wilmington from playing regularly scheduled baseball. With back-to-back rain-outs come consecutive doubleheaders, planned for Saturday and Sunday at Frawley Stadium. On Saturday, the Red Sox and Blue Rocks will square off in a double-dip beginning at 5:05 (weather permitting, of course). The start time for Sunday's doubleheader is TBA.
Considering that the Red Sox and Blue Rocks are scheduled to play four games in three days at LewisGale Field next weekend, adding a pair of doubleheaders this weekend will amount to eight games played on five days over a nine-day stretch between the two clubs.
The Salem Sox return home on Monday for a week-long homestand, beginning with a four-game series against Winston-Salem.
