Frederick Keys News Release
The Keys fell behind early but hung in as RHP Ryan O'Shea dealt three strong scoreless innings, but it was not enough. The Keys could never battle back as they fell by a 4-2 final in Lynchburg on Friday night.
Frederick had its biggest opportunity in the eighth inning. With LF Bobby Stevens and RF Steve Bumbry aboard and no outs Stevens raced to steal third base. Stevens got in easily but the throw went down to second base where Bumbry got a late break. He ended up caught in a rundown. Stevens raced for the plate and was thrown out at the plate.
Later in the inning with runners at the corners and two outs, 1B Mike Flacco laced a line drive to left field. Lynchburg outfielder Marcus Lemon ranged back and made a leaping catch to foil the rally.
The Keys fell behind early 2-0. In the second inning DH Justin Dalles walked and Stevens then got into a breaking ball, rifling it over the left field wall to highlight his return from Double-A Bowie. The two-run game-tying home run made it 2-2.
Lynchburg would jump back atop scoring in the bottom of the third inning. The Hillcats scored a run in four of the first five innings.
The Keys continue its four-game series in Lynchburg Saturday, August 20th as LHP Nick Haughian will take the hill. First pitch is set for 6:05 p.m. and coverage will begin 20 minutes prior on 1450-AM The Source and wthu.org.
Frederick will return home for its final regular season homestand of 2011 Monday, August 22nd at 7:00 p.m. It will be the final Kids Eat Free Monday of 2011! Also Playoff tickets are currently available for the Keys attempted run at the Mills Cup. For tickets contact the Keys at 1-877-8-GO-KEYS or purchase online at frederickkeys.com.
