Waterloo Black Hawks News Release
Friday's outcome was familiar; the Chicago Steel beat the Waterloo Black Hawks 6-4 for the second time in less than two weeks.
The Steel never trailed on their home rink, the Edge Ice Arena. Andy Miele scored the first of his three goals 1:59 into the game. Brian O'Neill added two goals and Dan Otto put one in for Chicago before the final horn.
Siim Liivik scored the only Black Hawk goal in the first 50 minutes, set up by Billy Maday from behind the Chicago net in the mid-first period. Waterloo trailed 6-1 when Keegan Meuer banged a rebound into an open side at 10:58 of the third. Nick Larson scored 15 seconds later, and Brock Montpetit stuffed a puck in at 16:37, but the Hawks couldn't complete the comeback.
The Black Hawks have another chance for a weekend win on Saturday when the Tri City Storm come to Young Arena. Game time is 7:05 on Breast Cancer Awareness Night. Look for officials in pink jerseys and other pink souvenirs which will be auctioned off after the game to benefit the Beyond Pink Team and cancer charities in the Cedar Valley.
