Saltdogs Sign Former Rajin Cajun Joe Robbins

GRAND PRAIRIE, TX - The Saltdogs announced today that they signed utility player Joe Robbins to his first professional contract. The Saltdogs released left-handed pitcher Carson McPherson.
Robbins just finished his senior season at Louisiana-Lafayette. The 23-year-old played 195 games over five seasons with the Rajin Cajuns. He hit .262 with 19 home runs and 103 RBIs over his career.
The Pineville, Louisiana native was a first-team All-Sun Belt Conference player as a third baseman his senior season. He hit .277 with six home runs and nine stolen bases in his 2017 season helping his team to the Sun Belt regular season conference championship.
McPherson pitched in four games for the Saltdogs and logged 3.2 innings. He allowed four hits over that span and was not charged with a run. The rookie from Oklahoma Baptist University made his pro debut on June 18th against Gary SouthShore.
The Saltdogs face the Texas AirHogs in a rubber match in Grand Prairie tonight. First pitch is at 7:05 PM with coverage beginning at 6:35 PM on ESPN 1480 and saltdogs.com.
