September 1, 2022 - NBA G League (G League)
Salt Lake City Stars News Release

SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, announced today that they will host their annual Local Player Tryout presented by University of Utah Health for prospective players on Saturday, Oct. 1. The 2022 Salt Lake City Stars Local Player Tryout will be held at the Lifetime Activities Center on the Salt Lake Community College Campus (4600 South Redwood Road) in Taylorsville.

To register, applicants should visit the Salt Lake City Stars website to complete the application and waiver and submit the $200 non-refundable registration fee. Tryout spots are limited to the first 100 applicants, so interested participants are strongly encouraged to pre-register.

Doors will open at 9 a.m. on Oct. 1 for player check-in, and the tryout will be conducted from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. All participants will receive a practice jersey, pair of NBA socks and a University of Utah Health gift pack.

The open tryout offers prospective players an opportunity to showcase their talents in front of Stars and Utah Jazz basketball executives while competing to earn an invitation to the NBA G League team's training camp in October. Participants must meet NBA G League eligibility requirements, including the minimum age of 18 years old, and should be prepared for team drills, individual skill work and scrimmages.

Following tryouts, NBA G League teams can designate up to five players as "Local Tryout Players" for their team training camp.

Last season, the Stars signed Marquette University graduate Brendan Bailey following the local player tryout. Bailey appeared in 17 games (three starts) and averaged 7.2 points and 3.2 rebounds in his time with the Stars.

The Stars are entering their seventh season in Salt Lake City. A full 50-game schedule will be announced soon. For more information on 2022-23 Stars tickets, fans are encouraged to visit slcstars.com or call or text (801) 325-STAR.
