HIDALGO, Texas - The Salt Lake City Stars fell to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers,119-105, in their final road game of the 2017-18 season.
After having seven lead changes and seven ties in the first half of the game, Salt Lake City went into the half down 58-56.
The Stars got down by as many as 10 in the third quarter before mounting a comeback to get within three close out the frame. The teams traded baskets to begin the fourth quarter and were tied at 95 with just under 8 minutes left to play in regulation when Rio Grande Valley went on a 24-10 run to secure the win.
Diamond Stone led the Stars with a game-high 24 points. Naz Mitrou-Long finished with 17 points, while reserve L.J. Rose chipped in 15 points and a game-high nine assists.
Julien Lewis paced the Vipers with 20 points. RJ Hunter netted 19 points and Zhou Qi and reserve Darius Morris both added 16 points.
The Stars return home for their 2017-18 season finale on Friday, March 23 when they host the Reno Bighorns for "Fairytale Night."
