Salmon Kings grab Gajic

Victoria, BC- The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that the team has agreed to terms with 25-year-old, Milan Gajic (pron: GUY-ch).

The 6'0", 180-lb Forward was selected by the Atlanta Thrashers in the fourth round (#122 overall) of the 2001 NHL entry draft. Last season, Gajic played 41 regular season games for the Gwinnett Gladiators (ECHL) and posted 58 points (25 goals, 33 assists). He also added another 19 points in the Gladiators journey to the Kelly Cup finals.

"We are very pleased that Milan has accepted our offer to join the Salmon Kings," said Dan Belisle, Vice President of Hockey Operations and General Manager. "He is an electrifying player who has a bright future ahead of him."

The native of Burnaby, BC began with the Burnaby Bulldogs of the British Columbia Hockey League (BCHL) in 2000-2001. He tallied a team-leading 98 points (46 goals, 52 assists) in just 50 regular season games.

In four years of NCAA hockey with the University of Michigan Wolverines, Gajic scored 115 points (53 goals, 62 assists) in 158 games, and placed third on the team scoring list in his junior and senior years.

Gajic began his pro career with the Providence Bruins (AHL) and earned one point in 17 games. He will report to Victoria for his second pro season and is added to the line up for tonight's "Annual Blue and White Game". The "Annual Blue and White Game" is open to the public and will start at 7:00 p.m. tonight at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre.

The Salmon Kings regular season begins on Friday October 20th in Anchorage, AK against the Aces. Their first home game at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre is on Wednesday October 25th against the Idaho Steelheads.
