Victoria Salmon Kings News Release
Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, remind fans that their fourth annual "Pink in the Rink" night in support of the BC Cancer Foundation goes tomorrow evening versus the Alaska Aces.
For this year's annual event, sponsored by 103.1 Jack FM and Ocean 98.5, the Salmon Kings will be wearing brand new pink jerseys for one night only. A special post-game live auction will take place in the main concourse of the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre, and all fans are encouraged to attend! Several game-worn pink jerseys from the night will be auctioned off to the crowd live. Additionally, the game-worn pink jerseys for ECHL All-Star defenseman Ryan Turek and Kiel McLeod will be available via silent auction from 6:00 p.m. tomorrow evening until the end of the second intermission. Fans can bid on the jerseys by visiting the Guest Services table in the main concourse.
The Salmon Kings are offering a special promotion rate of $17 for advance tickets or $60 for a family four pack. With these purchases, $5 from each single ticket sale and $20 from each four pack will be donated to the Foundation. Make sure to get your tickets by 5:30 p.m. today to qualify for the advanced ticket promotion.
Fans in attendance can receive a special pair of pink light-up thundersticks by making a monetary donation! A pair of thundersticks will also be included in all family four-packs sold to Pink in the Rink. The Foundation will be handing out limited pink and grey toques and scarves for a suggested $5 donation, while Hillside Centre will be on hand providing sales from their "believe" merchandise.
Staff from the Foundation will have an information table set up in the main concourse of the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre and will operate the evening's 50/50 and Chuck-a-Puck promotions. The Chuck-a-Puck promotion will give fans the chance to hit as many as four prize targets on the ice: two tickets to Legally Blonde: The Musical in Vancouver with accommodation and Helijet transportation courtesy of Rogers, a Hillside Centre gift card valued at $200, two tickets to see Sarah McLachlan live at the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre in March courtesy of the Times Colonist and BlackBerry Curve courtesy of TELUS.
Throughout the evening, several raffles will take place that offer fans the chance to win great prizes! Accent Inns will raffle an "Explore BC" package valued at $1,500 that includes one night at five different locations in British Columbia and passes to great attractions in each city including the National Geographic Imax, Hyak Wilderness Adventures, Metropolis at Metrotown, BC Wildlife Park and tickets to Riverdance! Mike's Hard Lemonade will be giving away three jackets valued at $100 each, while donating $1 from each sale of Mike's Pink Lemonade at the game to the Foundation.
Hosting the first intermission promotion will be 103.1 Jack FM, giving contestants a chance to play the "Frozen T-shirt" contest for two Elton John tickets. The second intermission, hosted by Ocean 98.5, will be a hockey shootout competition with 10 breast cancer survivors playing for an Apple iPad courtesy of TELUS.
During the game, fans can text "PINK" to 333777 for a chance to win one year of OPTIK TV Essentials with a free PVR rental valued at $500 courtesy of TELUS. Standard message and data rates may apply, and the winner will be announced during the third period.
The players will be showing their support on game night by wearing pink BC Cancer Foundation stickers on their helmets, while the coaching staff will be wearing pink ties and pins during the game.
During the Pink in the Rink game, the Salmon Kings will welcome back SuperSauce for another "Band in the Stands" evening where only live music will be played before and during the contest!
Additionally, 62 students from Torquay Elementary School will be signing the Canadian and American national anthems prior to the game, as they won the Foundation's "Proud to be Pink" contest.
Last year's Pink in the Rink event raised over $28,000 for the Foundation, which included nearly $9,000 in jersey auctions and $3,000 in ticket sales. The 50/50 and Chuck-a-Puck promotions garnered over $7,500 towards the cause, while over $9,000 was raised in monetary donations and souvenir sales.
The BC Cancer Foundation (www.bccancerfoundation.com) is the fundraising partner of the BC Cancer Agency and the largest charitable funder of cancer research in this province, enabling donors to contribute to leading-edge research that will improve care for all cancer patients in British Columbia. Funds raised on Vancouver Island remain in the Island, to support the BC Cancer Agency's Vancouver Island Centre.
The Salmon Kings finish off their three-game set with the Alaska Aces with contests tomorrow night and Saturday, February 5th. Puck drop for both games is at 7:05 p.m. For tickets call 250-220-7777 or visit www.selectyourtickets.com.
