Idaho's Barlow Named Reebok Hockey ECHL Player of the Month

PRINCETON, N.J ‚¬" Idaho Steelheads left wing Evan ‚¬Ë†Barlow is the Reebok Hockey ECHL Player of the Month for January.

Barlow scored 21 points (8g-13a) in 15 games during January, helping lead the Steelheads to an 8-4-3 record for the month and moving the squad to within one point of Utah for first place in the Mountain Division.

The 25 year old had at least one point in 11 of his 15 games during the month, highlighted by a four-point game (1g-3a) on Jan. 22 against Utah. Barlow had a three-assist performance on Jan. 14 against Victoria and scored two goals on Jan. 19 against Utah and on Jan. 29 at Stockton. He ended the month with a six-game scoring streak tallying 13 points (5g-8a) over that stretch.

Barlow rejoined the Steelheads on ‚¬Ë†Dec. 31 after starting the season in Norway. Last season he finished second on the Steelheads with 32 goals and 75 points while also being named the Most Valuable Player of the 2010 ‚¬Ë†ECHL All-Star Game and earning a spot on the league ‚¬â„¢s All-Rookie Team.

A native of Strathmore, ‚¬Ë†Alberta, ‚¬Ë†Barlow also saw action in eight American ‚¬Ë†Hockey League games with ‚¬Ë†Abbotsford last season scoring four points (1g-3a). During a four-year career at Cornett University from 2005-09, he tallied 61 points (28g-33a) in 126 games.

Runners Up: Francis Lemieux, Florida (14 gp, 11g, 11a, 22 pts), and Nick Petersen, Wheeling (14 gp, 10g, 16a, 26 pts).
