Ryan Cruthers Loaned to Manitoba

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Toronto Maple Leafs and Boston Bruins of the National Hockey League and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League, today announced that forward Ryan Cruthers has been loaned by the Royals to the Manitoba Moose of the AHL. In a separate transaction, forward Antoine Roussel was recalled to the Providence Bruins of the AHL. In other transactions announced today, the Royals also (i) activated forward Brett Gallant from the 3-Day Injured Reserve; and (ii) signed forward Vladimir Nikiforov to an ECHL contract and placed him on the 3-Day Injured Reserve.

Cruthers, a third year pro from Farmingdale, New York, who was originally loaned to the Moose on January 6, was returned to the Royals yesterday. He played in Reading's 3-1 win over the Wheeling Nailers, scoring twice including the late third-period tie-breaking game winner. That was Cruthers' team leading fifth game winner of the year, four of which have been tie-breaking third period GWGs. In. In twenty-nine games with Reading this season, Cruthers has thirty-one points (15g-16a) and twenty-six penalty minutes. He has scored three goals and picked up an assist and nine penalty minutes in eleven games with Manitoba. Roussel, a first year pro who was born in Roubaix, France, was assigned from Providence to the Royals on January 29. He played three games with Reading, registering one assist. In twenty-five games with the P-Bruins, he has picked up five assists and forty-eight penalty minutes. Gallant, a second year pro from Summerside, Prince Edward Island, was placed on the injured reserve on January 30. He has two points (1g-1a) and fifty-two penalty minutes in ten games with Reading this year. This marks Nikiforov's second stint with the Royals. A third year pro from Hauppauge, New York, Nikiforov was signed by Reading on December 1, 2010 and released on January 29. He has registered an assist and eight penalty minutes in eleven games with the Royals.

The Royals continue a busy week of hockey on Friday (February 4, 2011 @ 7:05 pm) when the Trenton Devils visit the Sovereign Center. That night, the Royals will celebrate Wall of Honor Night presented by Reading Eagle.
