Killeen Reassigned; Street Recalled to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton

WHEELING, WV ‚¬" The Wheeling Nailers announced Thursday that the Pittsburgh Penguins have reassigned goaltender Patrick Killeen to the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins of the American Hockey League. In addition, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton has recalled forward Ben Street.

Killeen, 20, is currently second in league in wins with 17. The Nailers netminder has posted solid numbers in his rookie campaign, posting a 17-9-0-1 record with a 2.70 goals against average, and a .906 save percentage. Killeen represented the Nailers at the ECHL All-Star game in Bakersfield, CA in January. He recorded his first career shutout in his first professional start on October 16 at Toledo, which helped him earn ECHL Goaltender of the Week honors for the week ending October 17.

Killeen appeared in one game with Wilkes-Barre/Scranton, making his AHL debut in relief on January 23 against the Charlotte Checkers. He was selected by the Pittsburgh Penguins in the sixth round of the 2008 NHL Entry Draft. He played four seasons with the Brampton Battalion of the Ontario Hockey League from 2006-2010.

Street, 23, is currently the Nailers second leading scorer with 51 points (24goals, 27assists). Street is second in the league in shots on goal with 184, while leading all rookies in that category. He is also tied with teammate Nick Petersen for goals scored by ECHL rookies with 24. Street represented the Nailers at the ECHL All-Star game last month.

Prior to Wheeling, the Coquitlam, BC Native, was a standout player at the University of Wisconsin. Last season his 30 points helped lead the Badgers to Frozen Four National Championship game. Street has appeared in four games this season with Wilke-Barre/Scranton going scoreless.

The Nailers next home game is set for this Saturday against division rival the Cincinnati Cyclones. Game time is 8:05 p.m. Saturday's game is Pink in the Rink.
