Salmon Kings Boutin Named Goaltender Of The Week

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Salmon Kings, proud affiliate of the Vancouver Canucks and Manitoba Moose, announced today that goaltender Jonathan Boutin was named the RbK Hockey ECHL Goaltender of the Week for Nov. 10-16.

Boutin backstopped the Salmon Kings to 2-0-0-0 record over the weekend. On Friday evening the 23-year-old stopped 33 shots in a 4-1 Salmon Kings win over the Phoenix RoadRunners. The next night he garnered a shutout denying the RoadRunners on all 25 shots as Victoria skated to a 9-0 win.

Over the two-game set the Granby, QC native earned a goals-against-average of 0.50 to go along with a save percentage .986. Over his four starts in the month of November he is 3-0-0-1 with two shutouts, a goals-against-average of 0.73 and a save percentage of .975.

The 6-2 and 206lb Boutin was selected in the third round (96th overall) by Tampa Bay in the 2003 NHL Entry Draft. Boutin began his career in the ECHL in 2005-06 and was the starting goaltender for the American Conference in the All-Star Game. That year he was 8-9-2 with two shutouts, a goals-against average of 2.93 and a save percentage of .920 in 19 games for Johnstown.

Prior to this season, Boutin had spent the majority of his career in the AHL where he had played with Springfield and Norfolk. For his three-year AHL career he accumulated a record of 30-47-6 with four shutouts.

The Salmon Kings welcome the West Division leading Alaska Aces to the Save-On-Foods Memorial Centre for a three-game set beginning tomorrow night. The teams will also meet on Friday and Saturday nights. All games begin at 7:05 p.m. Tickets are still available call 250-220-7777.
