Salem RidgeYaks News Release
It was not a pretty return home for the Salem Avalanche who nearly lost an 8-0 lead in Game One, and fell 5-1 in Game Two at the hands of the Wilmington Blue Rocks Monday Night in front of 5,219 fans in Salem.
Salem entered the opener leading 8-0 going into the fourth inning in a suspended game from July 4th in Wilmington.
Two big innings, a three-run fifth inning and a four-run seventh inning, brought the Blue Rocks within one run at 8-7.
But Salem brought in newcomer German Melendez who in just his third appearance with Salem picked up his second save, working two scoreless innings to preserve the victory.
In Game Two Wilmington starter Matt Goodson went the distance, allowing one run on four hits for his first complete game of the season.
Avalanche #B Billy Hart went 3-for-4 in the nightcap with one run scored.
Salem continues their homestand at home against Wilmington Tuesday, July 25 at 7:07 PM. It is "Two for Tuesday" at the ballpark presented by Advance Auto Parts.
