The Volcanoes returned to their winning ways after a one game skid and improved their record after two series to 4-2. Salem-Keizer stay atop the Northwest League South Division, tied with the Eugene Emeralds, and head back home to face the Tri-City Dust Devils in a five game series opening up Thursday night.

Salem-Keizer won the rubber match 3-2 in Boise, as they were able to put together eight hits in the evening and capitalize on two errors to score three runs in the contest.

The Volcanoes put a run on the board in the top of the third inning after getting the two leadoff batters on via singles. An attempted double play moved shortstop Manuel Geraldo over to third base as catcher John Riley broke up the Hawks' double play attempt. Geraldo then scored on first baseman Zack Bowers' sacrifice fly, to bring the score to 1-0.

Salem-Keizer then hung a crooked number on the board in the fifth inning after second baseman Kevin Rivera reached on a bunt-single to lead off the inning. Shortstop Manuel Geraldo forced Hawks' third baseman Wesley Jones to throw a ball that first baseman Luis Castro lost in the sun, allowing Rivera to score from first base and Geraldo to advance all the way to third. Designated hitter Jean Angomas then singled to right field, scoring Geraldo.

Riley added another hit to bring his tally to seven over the course of the series after singling in the eighth inning. Riley went 1-for-4 on the evening, but Angomas lit up the Volcanoes' box score with a 3-for-4 night and an RBI to go along with the three hits.

Volcanoes' starter Victor Concepcion tossed 6.0 innings, allowing one run, as he slashed his Volcanoes 7.50ERA to 3.75 during his strong outing. Jeff Burke (1.2IP) and Carlos Alvarado (1.1IP) threw three combined relief innings, allowing just a run in the three innings of work.

The Hawks tried to start a rally in the ninth as Boise scored a run late in the game. Right fielder Bobby Stahel singled to short to lead off for the Hawks and then moved to third base after Geraldo made a throwing error to first on a grounder by second baseman Anthony Brito. Stahel then scored on Jones' ground out to first base. Alvarado then struck out the next two batters to end the ball game in a 3-2 win for the Volcanoes.

Concepcion got the win and Alvarado earned the save in the series finale as the Volcanoes went back atop the standings, tied with the Eugene Emeralds.

Salem-Keizer returns home for a five-game home stand against the Tri-City Dust Devils Thursday at 6:35 p.m. PDT.
