St. Paul Saints News Release

The Saint Paul Saints capped off a wild offensive game on Wednesday afternoon at Midway Stadium when Ryan Priddy drove in Ben Thomas with a game-winning single to defeat the St. Joeseph Blacksnakes by a final score of 10-9.

Priddy, who has struggled offensively this season, had a career day at the plate, going 4-5 with his first professional home run, a double, and two singles, including the game winning single in the ninth.

St. Paul trailed early in the game 3-0 before the Priddy's home run pulled the Saints within 3-1 in the third inning. St. Paul would then take a 7-3 lead in the fourth, batting 10 men and scoring six in the inning.

With the lead then 9-4 in the top of the eighth, the Saints would allow five runs in the inning off reliever Byron Embry, the tying run coming on a single by Victor Burgos to even the score. After Embry got out of the inning by striking out Chad Sosabee to end the inning, the Saints went to work in the ninth, loading the bases with one out. After Marcel Longmire was forced out at the plate for the second out, Priddy came to the plate and drove a base hit to center field, scoring Ben Thomas with the game winning run and giving the Saints a 10-9 victory over the Blacksnakes.

Tony Pierce (3-2) picked up the victory in relief of Charlie Ruud, while Vinny DeChristofaro (4-8) took the loss for St. Joe. These two teams will square off in the final meeting between the two teams this season on Thursday night at 7:05. Lefty Brian Whinnery (6-1, 2.04 ERA) will take the hill for the Saints, while Right hander Rick DeHart (1-2, 3.33 ERA) will pitch for St. Joeseph.
