St. Paul Saints News Release

ST. PAUL, MN (July 4, 2015) - In a time of need the baseball community is a tight knit fraternity. The St. Paul Saints and Charleston Riverdogs have many connections including falling under the same ownership group, the Goldklang Group. The Saints will donate all proceeds from the July 4 jersey auction to the Emmanuel AME Church in Charleston.

The Saints will don special Fourth of July Uniforms, blue in the front with the "STP" logo over the left breast, white down the sides with three blue stars on either side and camouflage on the back with the number in red. Fans can bid on the jersey's throughout the game.

"Our hearts go out to the families of those who lost their lives in this horrific incident and to the Charleston community as a whole," said Saints Executive VP/General Manager Derek Sharrer. "Through our connection to the Charleston RiverDogs we share their pain and feel as though this fundraising effort is just one way that the Saints and Saints fans can help."

On June 17, 2015 a mass shooting took place at Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in downtown Charleston, SC. Nine people were killed including senior pastor, state senator Clementa Pinckney.

The Saints will donate all proceeds from the jersey auction to the Lowcountry Ministries - Reverend Pinckney Fund. This Fund will be administered by the Palmetto Project (a South Carolina non-profit dedicated to improving the lives of South Carolians). 100% of the funds donated will be used in this community to support local initiatives serving his home church, vulnerable populations and youth projects that Reverend Pinckney was so passionate about. Decisions on the use of these funds will be made a task force of stakeholders made up of a member or members of Reverend Pinckney's family, colleagues, representatives from Emanuel AME Church and other members of our community selected for their specific expertise.
