Sioux City Explorers News Release

St. Paul, MN-----Brian Burgamy hit a two-run, walk-off home run in the 12th inning that gave St. Paul a 5-3 win over the Explorers at Midway Stadium Sunday afternoon. It was the first runs scored since the Saints tied the game at 3-3 on a lead-off home run by Brandon Tripp in the fourth inning.

The Explorers had taken a 3-2 lead in the top of the fourth inning on a lead-off home run by Peter Barrows. It was Barrow's tenth home run of the season.

St. Paul had taken a 2-0 lead in the second inning on a two-run single by Joey Becker. The Explorers tied the game at 2-2 in the third inning on a two-run double by Austin Gallagher.

After Tripp tied the game in the fourth with his 17th home run of the year, neither team scored until the 12th.

The Explorers had ten hits, but left 11 runners on base in losing their fifth game on the six game road trip. Elizer Mesa led the Explorers with three hits while Sam Judah and Yusuke Inoguchi both had two hits. Judah extended his hitting streak to six games.

Jimmer Kennedy, the third pitcher the Explorers used, pitched three and one third innings and took the loss.

With the two-run loss, the Explorers had now played 47 games that have been decided by two-runs or less, but have lost 27 of those games.

Sioux City will now open up a seven-game home stand Monday at Lewis and Clark Park against Winnipeg. The Goldeyes will be here through Thursday followed by a three-game weekend series against St. Paul.
