St. Paul Saints News Release
ST. PAUL, MN - The St. Paul Saints catchers have been productive during the season. They will add a little more depth to the position as the Minnesota Twins have transferred catcher Frank Nigro from High-A Cedar Rapids to the Saints.
The 24-year-old Nigro began the season with the FCL Twins and was 0-6 in two games. He was transferred to the Kernels on June 17 and was 2-7 with an RBI, which was a walk-off single in his debut on the June 19. He threw out two of seven base runners with the FCL Twins and two of three with the Kernels.
The Twins signed Nigro as a Minor League free agent in 2021 and he hit .120 (3-25) with three RBI in 16 games with the FCL Twins.
After spending four seasons at Wilmington (DE) University from 2017-19, Nigro signed as a free agent with the High Point Rockers in the Independent Atlantic League. He hit .117 with one home run and five RBI.
In his career, Nigro has thrown out 33.0% of would-be base stealers (36-109) between the Independent and affiliated ranks.
The Twins also assigned right-handed pitcher Trevor Megill to the Saints on Major League rehab (right shoulder impingement).
The Saints roster stands at 32 players, 18 pitchers and 14 position players, with one player on Major League rehab, two players on the seven-day injured list, and one player on the season ending injured list.
