MEMPHIS, Tenn. - Despite tying the game with a home run in the eighth, the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp fell to the Memphis Redbirds 4-3 in 10 innings on Saturday night at AutoZone Park.

Memphis (43-34) entered the 10th inning tied at three and Delvin Perez pinch running at second. Ben DeLuzio walked and Scott Hurst was hit by a pitch to load the bases. With the bases loaded, Moises Gomez lined a single up the middle to give the Redbirds a walkoff win.

Jacksonville (41-36) got on the board in the top of the first. Bryson Brigman singled and went to third on a single by Willians Astudillo. With runners at the corners, Jerar Encarnacion hit a sac fly to score Brigman to put the Jumbo Shrimp ahead 1-0.

The Redbirds tied the game in the bottom of the first. With one out, Hurst (3) blasted a solo home run to tie the game at one.

Memphis took the lead in the bottom of the second. With two outs, Evan Mendoza doubled, stole third and scored on a fielding error to put the Redbirds ahead 2-1. Irving Lopez reached second on the fielding error and scored on a double from DeLuzio to give Memphis a 3-1 lead.

Jacksonville came back slowly with a run in the sixth inning. With one out, Lewin Díaz singled and went to second on a single by Peyton Burdick. With runners at first and second, JJ Bleday smacked a single, scoring Díaz to cut the deficit to 3-2.

The Jumbo Shrimp tied the game in the eighth inning. Leading off the inning, Díaz (15) launched a solo home run off Memphis reliever Kyle Ryan to tie the game at three.

Jacksonville returns home Monday, July 4 to open a series with the Norfolk Tides. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. on Monday for an awesome Independence Day celebration at 121 Financial Ballpark. The Jumbo Shrimp will be giving away a 4th of July hat, presented by Nimnicht Family of Dealerships to the first 2,000 fans through the gates. The Jumbo Shrimp will be wearing their Patriotic Jerseys which are currently up for auction. The night will wrap up with an amazing Independence Day fireworks show!
