Memphis Redbirds News Release

MEMPHIS, TN - The Memphis Redbirds walked off the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp in game five of a six-game series at AutoZone Park on Saturday night, winning the game by a final score of 4-3.

Right fielder Moises Gomez came to the plate with the bases loaded and no one out in the bottom of the tenth inning, looking for his first base hit of the game. The right-handed hitter, still in his first week at Triple-A, drove a line drive to center field to score pinch runner Delvin Perez.

Memphis controlled much of the game, taking a 3-1 lead after the second inning. In the bottom of the first, center fielder Scott Hurst clubbed his second home run in as many games to tie the game at one. In the second, designated hitter Ben DeLuzio stayed hot with an RBI double to put the Redbirds up two.

Steven Matz made his second MLB rehab start of the season, lasting three innings of one-run baseball and struck out three batters. Reliever Jacob Bosiokovic earned the win, tossing a scoreless ninth and tenth inning, stranding a total of four runners on base and garnering three strikeouts.

The Memphis Redbirds (43-34) return to AutoZone Park for the finale of a six-game series against the Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp (41-36) for a 6:05 p.m. CDT first pitch on Sunday, July 3.
