ST. LOUIS, MO (Sept. 12, 2015) - Charlotte's 12-match unbeaten streak skidded to a halt against St. Louis FC on Saturday night, as the Independence fell 2-0. Goals from James Musa and Jacob Bushue sealed the victory for the home side.

Charlotte had plenty of the ball on the night, and even moved the ball well at times, but nothing ever materialized for a desperate Independence squad.

St. Louis took the lead in the 29th minute, despite Independence goalkeeper John Berner's best effort. He managed to parry away a curling strike, but the rebound fell straight to Musa, who made no mistake in his finish.

Charlotte's misery was compounded in the 52nd minute when, after a series of defensive errors, Bushue lofted a perfect header into the net.

Fortunately for the Independence, neither Harrisburg nor Pittsburgh was able to manage a win, and for now Charlotte will retain its 5th place position in the Eastern Conference standings. Charlotte's final regular-season game will be away at the Charleston Battery on Saturday, Sept 19. The Independence's playoff situation is precarious at best, as Pittsburgh, Richmond and Harrisburg close in from behind.
