
Saginaw Takes Down Kingston 5-2 On Home Ice

Saginaw took the ice against Kingston at the Dow Event Center on Sunday, finishing the weekend with their second win with a 5-2 decision over the Frontenacs.
The Saginaw Spirit netted their first goal of the game towards the later end of the first period on a shot by Jimmy Lodge at the 16:15 mark. Nick Moutrey took the lone assist on the play. The Spirit headed to a power play after Zack Dorval went to the penalty box for kneeing. Connor Brown seized the Spirit's one-man advantage and notched Saginaw's second goal of the game, with the help of Devon Paliani and Dylan Sadowy at 19:09 of the first period. The Spirit dominated the first 20 minutes of play, putting 13 shots on Kingston's starting goaltender Jeremy Helvig. The Frontenacs had 6 shots on goal after the first.
The Kingston Frontenacs sliced into the Saginaw Spirit lead and saw the only goal of the second period at 17:13 on a goal by Juho Lammikko. Roland McKeown and Evan McEneny assisted the play. Saginaw's starting goaltender Jake Paterson saw 16 shots from the Frontenacs in the second period. Shots on goal for the Spirit read 4.
The Saginaw Spirit took the reins in the third period, scoring three more goals before the midway mark of the period. Saginaw's Artem Artemov slapped home a nice goal right off the face off 56 seconds into the last 20 minutes of play, putting the score at 3-1 Spirit. Connor Brown snuck in another goal for the Spirit at the 3:11 mark, with the assists being credited to Mitchell Webb and Devon Paliani. Saginaw's Jimmy Lodge netted his second goal of the game at the 6:31 mark, to go up 5-1 over the Frontenacs. Saginaw and Kingston moved to 4-on-4 hockey after Kingston's Zack Dorval headed to the box for slashing and Saginaw's Mitchell Stephens took 2 minutes for roughing. The Frontenacs sought the opportunity to put another tally on the board and succeeded when Robert Polesello found the back of the net, cutting into the Spirit lead 5-2 at 14:35 of the third period. Final shots on goal favored Kingston 35-27.
The Saginaw Spirit will hit the road for three away games this coming weekend. The boys will be in Guelph on Friday night, Erie on Saturday night, and finish the weekend off Sunday in Kitchener. The Spirit will return to the Dow Event Center on Friday, November 14th with a divisional matchup against the Windsor Spitfires. Puck will drop at 7:11 p.m.
