Belleville Bulls News Release
BULLS (10-4-0-0) AT GENERALS (12-2-1-0)
OSHAWA, ON - Round two of a weekend home-and-home series with the Oshawa Generals is on tap at the GM Centre Sunday evening. The Generals scored three power play goals and on their way to a 5-2 victory on Saturday night. Belleville will be seeking revenge against the top team in the OHL's Eastern Conference when the puck drops at 6pm.
Just under 3000 fans packed the Yardmen Arena to get their first look at a very talented Oshawa squad. The second best power play in the OHL went to work early as Michael Dal Colle beat Charlie Graham from Mitchell Vande Sompel to open up the scoring. Next it was Hunter Smith scoring on the man advantage to give Oshawa the 2-0 lead half way through the period.
Belleville had an answer, though, proving they can also be dangerous on the power play. Jordan Subban extended his point streak to 7 games when he ripped home his 8th of the season from Brett Welychka and Adam Laishram. The Generals led 2-1 after the first period.
Another power play goal for Oshawa came three and a half minutes into the second when veteran Josh Sterk extended the lead for his club. Dal Colle picked up one of his two assists on the night. Shots were knotted up at five as the second stanza came to a close.
The Bulls picked up the tempo to begin the third, looking to claw their way back. Defenceman Stephen Harper jammed in a loose puck on the doorstep for his 2nd of the year to make it a one-goal game. Late in the frame the Gens added two more, one being an empty netter, to down the Bulls 5-2. Charlie Graham made 23 saves in the loss and Stepehen Harper was awarded the games second star. Shots favoured the Generals 28-26.
After being handed their first loss of the season on home ice, the Bulls are hoping to bounce back in their first trip to Oshawa. You can get full play-by-play coverage with Jack Miller on 800 CJBQ starting at 5:50pm. Remember to follow along on twitter (@OHLBulls) for all game updates.
