Erie Otters News Release
Erie, PA - Ramis Sadikov made 43 saves for the Erie Otters but his team fell short of victory as the Niagara IceDogs defeated the Otters, 3-2, Friday night at Tullio Arena.
The IceDogs broke through with a pair of goals 40 seconds apart to take a 2-0 lead after the first 20 minutes. Alex Friesen and David Pacan each scored in the first for the IceDogs.
Connor Brown put the Otters on the board at 6:35 of the second period. After Jimmy McDowell rushed to keep the puck in at the right point, he flung a shot towards the net that hit Dane Fox, who passed it over to an open Brown at the left side of the crease for Brown's 15th of the season.
Andrew Agozzino pushed the Niagara lead back to two midway though the second. The Otters pulled back to within a goal on Fox's 16th goal of the season, as the former Knight roofed a shot over the right shoulder of Mark Visentin during an Erie power play.
The third period was more defensive-minded, and the Otters could only manage four shots in the last 20 minutes. Anthony Cortellessa had the best opportunity to tie game with four minutes remaining, but his shot rang off the post.
The Otters return to Tullio Arena Saturday night when former Otter Andrew Yogan returns with the Peterborough Petes for a 7:00 p.m. contest. For tickets, call (814) 452-4857 or go to ottershockey.com.
