Sacramento Republic FC News Release

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (February 6, 2015) - Sacramento Republic FC re-signed midfielder Ivan Mirkoviæ and extended defender Emrah Klimenta's contract. Both players signed two-year deals, keeping them with Republic FC through the 2016 season with a team option for the 2017 season. The contracts are pending league approval.

"Ivan and Emrah bring a high level of professionalism to the club in both their attitude and performance," said Republic FC Technical Director Graham Smith. "Both are an example of what can be achieved if you are prepared to sweat and toil. I have no doubt that if they continue to show the promise of last season, it won't be long before they play at a higher level."

A leader in the midfield for Republic FC in 2014, Mirkoviæ started 21 USL PRO matches and racked up 1,794 USL PRO minutes, fifth most on Republic FC. Preforming mostly in a defensive capacity, Mirkoviæ led Republic FC with 42 fouls during the USL PRO season. He started and played every minute of Republic FC's playoff run, including all 90 minutes of the USL PRO Championship match on September 27.

Klimenta was one of two players signed from open tryouts in 2014. He was one of just four players who appeared in 26 of Republic FC's 28 USL PRO matches. As a right back, Klimenta scored two goals, second most among Republic FC defenders. Like Mirkoviæ, Klimenta started and played every minute of Republic FC's playoff run.

Republic FC will face the Fresno Fuego on the road in their first preseason friendly on Saturday, February 7. Dubbed the Highway 99 Derby, the match kicks off at 7:00 p.m. at Chukchansi Park in Fresno, Calif. For player bios and stats visit SacRepublicFC.com.
