SaberCats Sign Merchandise Deal

SAN JOSE, Calif. (Nov. 14, 2003) â The San Jose SaberCats of the Arena Football League have reached an agreement with Silicon Valley Sports & Entertainment (SVS&E) Merchandise for them to be the exclusive provider of team licensed apparel and merchandise items, announced SaberCats Vice President Hank Stern.
"A survey of fans indicated a desire for an array of affordable, quality items and this working agreement will allow for a diversity of merchandise with a greater number of in-stock items," said Stern.
The agreement with SVS&E Merchandise will give the SaberCats its first true retail presence in the Bay Area in more than three years. Officially licensed apparel and merchandise items will be available at the merchandise store at HP Pavilion starting November 28, just in time for Holiday season shopping.
Recent success enjoyed by the SaberCats, including an ArenaBowl Championship in 2002 and four consecutive Western Division titles, has led to an increased demand for merchandise. The two parties are hopeful that a larger inventory of items will satisfy the desire of fans to more easily obtain merchandise.
"The bottom line is that this partnership will benefit our fans the most," added Stern. "We want to see our fans proudly wearing SaberCats gear and this allows them to do that much easier."
Season ticket holders will continue to get a special 15% discount on all SaberCats items by showing their season ticket holder card and the merchandise store at HP Pavilion will be open during Arena Football games in 2004.
The SaberCats and SVS&E Merchandise plan to announce an on-line presence in the near future.
San Jose opens it 10th season in the Arena Football League in February. Season and group tickets for the 2004 season are available by contacting a sales representative at (408) 573-5577. Individual game tickets are set to go on sale in mid December and can be purchased through any Northern California TicketMaster outlet or the HP Pavilion box office.
