SAN JOSE, Calif. (Jan. 29, 2004) â The San Jose SaberCats and Bay Area television station KBWB (WB20) have reached an agreement to televise the Arena Football League club's season opener live from Detroit on Thursday, February 5, at 4:30 p.m. (PT).
The SaberCats, celebrating their 10th season as members of the Arena Football League, will also have the season opener shown on tape delay on NBC11 (KNTV) on Sunday, February 8, at 1:00 a.m. The team has been televised locally on WB20 and KNTV for the past five seasons.
"The SaberCats have had a great relationship with WB20 and we are ecstatic that we can continue working as partners," said SaberCats' Vice President Hank Stern. "Our fans can continue to watch high-quality, entertaining arena football action thanks to the help of our friends at WB."
"We are once again pleased to be the SaberCats television station for the Bay Area," commented WB20 President and General Manager Bob Anderson. "This will be our sixth season as the SaberCats station and the team has been an ArenaBowl contender every year, and of course, ArenaBowl Champions in 2002. The SaberCats are one of the top Arena Football League franchises and our viewers love the fast-paced, high-scoring action."
