Orlando Predators News Release

Orlando, Fla. (Jan. 29) -- The Orlando Predators will hold their third annual Season Ticket Pick-up Party and Media Day on Saturday, Jan 31 from 9 a.m. – 12 noon at Thunder Field, adjacent to the Florida Citrus Bowl Stadium.

Season ticket holders that purchased tickets for the 2004 season may use that opportunity to pick up their tickets. The event, which is not open to the general public, is for season ticket holders and their families. Food and beverages will be provided, along with entertainment. The entertainment portion will include the Predators inflatables for the youngsters.

Fans will also get a glimpse of the 2004 Predators, as Head Coach Jay Gruden will conduct a brief 20-play scrimmage beginning at 10 a.m. The players will remain on the field following the scrimmage for a "meet-and-greet" and autograph session with the fans.

In addition, the Predators will be selling discounted merchandise from the 2003 season and a miniature version of the new 2004 AFL football.

PREDATORS NOTES: With a "Monster Truck Show" scheduled for the Citrus Bowl Stadium on Saturday night, the city of Orlando is asking all Predators season ticket holders attending the scrimmage and pick-up party to park in "Lot U" on the corner of Rio Grande and Colyer Streets...it will be the only lot available with free parking...Head Coach Jay Gruden is calling Sunday's impending "cut down" day the toughest one he has faced in his five seasons as head coach... "We have a lot of extremely talented players I would love to keep around," Gruden said. "We have had tough competition at practically every position and I know we are going to release some players that would have made the team easily in the past couple of seasons"...Gruden must reduce his roster from 36 to 24 by Monday, but expects to announce the cuts either Saturday night or Sunday morning...if defensive specialist Lin-J Shell makes the roster, he will not only be the youngest player on the roster (22-years-old), but will be the first player since OL/DL Fred Ray (2000) to make the opening day roster after being discovered in a free agent tryout camp...Shell came out of nowhere and impressed coaches at the free agent camp and he is no longer considered a long shot to make the team...The Predators first two games of the season (at Tampa Bay and home with Austin) are conference games...FB/LB Rupert Grant goes by the nickname "Dogghead" and takes it a step further by calling all his teammates and Predators staff members by the same name... "As long as they are male, I call them Dogghead," Grant said... "I've been doing it for years"...after rolling up an ankle a few days ago in practice, FB/LB Kevin McLeod may open the season on the injured reserve list"...DS Kenny McEntyre needs just five interceptions during the regular season to become the Arena Football League's all-time leader in that category...In just five seasons (he played just one regular season game in 1998), McEntyre has 46 interceptions and trails former Predators player Durwood Roquemore (nine seasons) by just four...the top three players in AFL history (Roquemore, McEntyre and Barry Wagner) have spent all or the majority of their careers with the Predators...counting playoffs, McEntyre's 56 interceptions are already the most in league history.
