SaberCats Adjust Training Camp Roster
January 22, 2004 - Arena Football League (1987-2008) (AFL I)
San Jose SaberCats News Release
SAN JOSE, Calif. (Jan. 22, 2004) â The San Jose SaberCats adjusted their training camp roster by adding depth to their offensive/defensive line corps with the signings of Eric Everley and Andrew Mitchell. San Jose also waived fullback/linebacker George Gordon, announced General Manager Terry Malley.
An Academic All-American as a defensive tackle at Kansas State, Everley (6-5, 320) looks to make his AFL debut with the SaberCats in 2004. He has previously worked out with the NFL's Kansas City Chiefs.
Mitchell (6-4, 275) arrives in San Jose after previous AFL stops in Portland (1999) and Oklahoma (2000), and with the af2's Wichita Stealth in 2002. Mitchell was a four-year starter at defensive end for Savannah State.
The training camp battle at the fullback/linebacker position took its toll on Gordon, who was waived from the SaberCats' roster. Gordon signed a free agent contract with the team on January 15.
The SaberCats kickoff their 10th AFL season at Detroit on Thursday, February 5th. The home opener is set for Saturday, February 28th against the Grand Rapids Rampage at HP Pavilion. Single game tickets for all home games can be purchased at all Northern California TicketMaster outlets, on-line at www.ticketmaster.com, or in person at the HP Pavilion box office. For season or group ticket information call the SaberCats at (408) 573-5577 or visit the team's official website at www.sanjosesabercats.com.
