L.A. Avengers single-game tickets go on sale Saturday
LOS ANGELES -- While anticipation builds for their fifth season of play in the 18-year-old Arena Football League, the Los Angeles Avengers have announced that single-game tickets for the 2004 campaign will go on sale Saturday, Jan. 24, at noon.
Seats for all eight of the Avengers' regular-season home games at STAPLES Center will be available at Ticketmaster outlets and the STAPLES Center box office. Tickets, which range in price from $10 to $59, can also be purchased online at www.ticketmaster.com or by calling (213) 480-3232.
"Our season ticket sales have been running at an all-time high, pacing well ahead of last year when we played to 85 percent capacity and had to turn people away prior to one game," team president and chief operating officer Todd Merkow said. "Over the past couple seasons, Avenger tickets have become a hot commodity, which shouldn't be surprising since we have only a little more than 140,000 seats to offer for the entire regular season."
After kicking off the 2004 season with a pair of road games (Feb. 8, at Arizona; and Feb. 14, at Las Vegas), the Avengers will play their home opener against the San Jose SaberCats on Sunday, Feb. 22, at STAPLES Center. The rest of the home slate is highlighted by a special "Monday Night Football" game versus the Georgia Force on Monday, March 1; a visit by the Colorado Crush, who are owned by John Elway, on Saturday, April 10; and the regular-season finale, which marks the first-ever game in Los Angeles for the Orlando Predators, a perennial AFL powerhouse, on Sunday, May 30.
"It's certainly shaping up to a special season on and off the field," Merkow said. "Our team intends to make a run at the championship and will be playing in front of near-capacity crowds. We're urging fans understand this, plan ahead and get their tickets now."
Nine-game season ticket packages, which include a first-round playoff game, are still available by calling 1-888-AVENGERS or online at www.laavengers.com. In the event that the Avengers host additional playoff games, including ArenaBowl XVIII on June 27, at STAPLES Center, season ticket holders will get the first right of refusal to purchase their seats.
