Staten Island, NY - The Staten Island Yankees (10-9) defeated the Connecticut Tigers (6-14) by a score of 6-2 Sunday evening at Richmond Bank Ballpark. The Tigers led 2-1 in the eighth inning the Yankees rallied for a five run eighth inning to take a 6-2 lead. The eighth inning was highlighted by John Murphy's bases clearing triple that gave the Yankees a 5-2 lead.

Tigers 2B Dominic Ficociello (1-4) was the highlight player for the Tigers in the game. In the fourth inning Ficociello led off with his first professional homerun that tied the game at 1-1.

In the sixth inning Austin Schotts (1-2) singled to lead the inning off. DH Kasey Coffman (0-3) walked to put runners on first and second. Schotts and Coffman advanced to second and third on a wild pitch. Ficociello followed with an RBI groundout.

The Tigers scored five runs on two hits and left three men on base. The team went 0-4 with runners in scoring position and committed one error.

The CT Tigers and S.I. Yankees play game two of their three-game series tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. In game two of the series, Connecticut LHP Joe Mantiply (0-1, 1.04) is slated to face off against Staten Island LHP Caleb Smith (0-0, 3.00).
