
Rysavy & Czechia Open World Juniors with a Win over Canada

Martin Rysavy and Team Czechia stunned Team Canada on the opening day of the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championship on Monday.
Czechia scored three times in the second period and skated to a 5-2 win over Canada to kick off the tournament in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Rysavy was held without a point in 11:42 of ice time during the game.
David Spacek and Regina Pats defenceman Stanislav Svozil had a goal and two points for Czechia in the win, while Shane Wright finished with a goal and two points for Canada.
Czechia returns to the ice for another tough test against Sweden on Wednesday.
Sweden topped Austria 11-0 in other Group A action on Monday, while Switzerland upset Finland, 3-2, in overtime and the United States beat Latvia, 5-2.
Robert Baco and Team Slovakia will open their tournament on Tuesday against Finland. Puck drops at 10 a.m. CST.
