WORLD JUNIORS: Svozil Guides Czechia to 9-0 Win Over Austria, As Czechia Improves to 2-0

Halifax, N.S. - Team Czechia improved to 2-0 at the 2023 IIHF World Junior Championships with a 9-0 victory over Austria on Tuesday at the Scotiabank Centre.

Regina Pats defenceman Stanislav Svozil picked up three assists over 11:49 of ice time, recording helpers on the Czechia's first, second, and ninth goals of the game. The 19-year-old Columbus Blue Jackets prospect now has five points (1G-4A) in two tournament games.

Jiri Kulich scored a hat-trick, Gabriel Sztruc tallied two goals while Jakub Brabenec, Ales Cech, Petr Hauser and David Spacek rounded out the scoring. The final shots were 46-8 for Czechia.

Kulich was named the player of the game for Czechia. David Reinbacher was named the player of the game for Austria.

Czechia is back in action on Thursday, December 29 at 5:30 Saskatchewan time (7:30 p.m. local time).

Connor Bedard and Canada will take on Germany on Wednesday, December 28 at 5:30 p.m. Saskatchewan time (7:30 p.m. local time).
