Oil Kings Dropped by Rebels

Red Deer, AB - The Edmonton Oil Kings fell by a 7-1 score to the Red Deer Rebels on Tuesday night at the Peavey Mart Centrium.

In the first period, the Oil Kings fired 14 shots the way of Red Deer netminder Rhett Stoesser, several of which being dangerous opportunities, but the young Rebel 'tender was able to keep the Edmonton attack off the board.

In the latter half of the of the period, the Rebels were able to explode for three goals in the span of six minutes with Ollie Josephson, Matteo Fabrizi and Craig Armstrong all finding the twine to give the home-side a 3-0 lead at the first intermission.

In the second period, the Rebels extended their lead to 4-0 on a power play goal from Kai Uchacz at the 11:39 mark of the middle stanza as he rifled home a one-timer from the left-circle.

The Oil Kings were able to get on the board with 4:30 left in the frame after Reid Larson got a shot through to the Red Deer net off a faceoff win by John Szabo that led to a rebound that Luke Robson was able to muscle over the goal line for his second goal of the season.

Before the period was out, the Rebels would strike once again on a power play, and again it was Uchacz as he cleaned up a rebound off a Jayden Grubbe shot.

In the third period, the Rebels tacked on a pair of goals courtesy Carson Birnie and a hat-trick goal from Uchacz.

Kolby Hay finished the night making 31 saves for the Oil Kings while Stoesser turned in a 34-save effort for the Rebels. Edmonton went 0-for-5 on the power play, Red Deer was 4-for-6.

Next up, the Oil Kings head to Calgary to take on the Hitmen tomorrow night at 7:00 P.M.
