Cedar Rapids, IA - Cedar Rapids righthander Ryan Shreve has been named Midwest League Pitcher of the Week. Shreve made three appearances for the Kernels with one start, tossing 6.0 scoreless innings with six punchouts. He retired 18-of-20 batters faced, surrendering just a pair of singles as he dominated the Sky Carp. His opponent average (.100), WHIP (0.33) and appearances (3) led the Midwest League.
The honor is the first of Shreve's career.
Drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the 16th Round of the 2019 MLB Amateur Draft, Shreve has been a key piece of the Cedar Rapids bullpen this season. The righthander has covered 23.1 innings over 19 appearances to the tune of a 3.86 ERA, striking out 22 and going 1-1 with a save. Shreve has logged 118.0 innings as a professional with a 3.58 career ERA and 153 strikeouts.
