Club de Foot Montreal News Release
MONTREAL - CF Montréal announced on Monday that goalkeeper coach Rémy Vercoutre is stepping down from his duties with the Club.
Rémy Vercoutre was the first team goalkeeper coach since December 18, 2018. He was part of the coaching staff that won the Canadian Championship in 2019 and that lead the team to a playoff spot in 2020.
"After a good discussion with Rémy, I accepted his request to step down from his duties with the Club. Rémy will be able to explain later why he decided to leave," said CF Montréal sporting director Olivier Renard. "The entire Club thanks Rémy for his professionalism during his time with us and we wish him good success in the future. We are currently in discussions with different candidates to replace him. I hope to be able to announce our choice soon."
"Today, I leave a city and a Club that helped my family and I grow," said Rémy Vercoutre. "I want to thank the entire CF Montréal organization, especially Mr. Joey Saputo and his family for their kindness, and Mr. Kevin Gilmore for his professionalism. I have a special thought for the coaching staff and the technical, medical and administrative staff for welcoming me, and for our perfect agreement that led us to the Canadian Championship and to the playoffs. Thank you to sporting director Olivier Renard for his receptiveness and his advice. Thank you to all my goalkeepers for their hard work, which made them progress every day and with whom I loved working. I wish for all the supporters to enjoy as much as I have the new project initiated by Thierry Henry and reinforced perfectly by Wilfried Nancy. Quebec, Montreal and CF Montréal will always be in me and my family's heart."
