Kazan, Russia -- Team Canada has suffered its first loss at the World Under 18 Hockey Championships in Russia.

The host Russians scored three unanswered goals, including two in the third period Wednesday en route to a 4-2 victory over Colby Robak, Brayden Schenn and Team Canada.

Ryan Ellis and Mathew Duchene scored goals midway through the second period to give Canada a shortlived 2-1 advantage, after a scoreless opening period of play.

Robak, a 17-year old native of Gilbert Plains Manitoba, set up Duchene's second period goal for his first point of this prestigious international event.

One of only a handful of 16-year olds participating in this week's ten team event, Schenn was assessed a roughing minor during the first period of Wednesday's game.

The Canadian entry is now 2-1-0 at the event and will close out its preliminary round robin schedule on Friday against Slovakia - a game that will be televised on TSN.

Wednesday's loss also means that Canada will now play a Quarterfinal game on Sunday afternoon.

Robak and Schenn are the first ever members of the Wheat Kings to play in this annual Spring tournament.
