
Giants Captain Off To AHL

The Vancouver Giants congratulate team captain Spencer Machacek on being called up to the Chicago Wolves of the American Hockey League. Chicago is the AHL affiliate of the Atlanta Thrashers, who signed Machacek last month.
Machacek has completed his third year with the Giants. The 19 year-old from Lethbridge, Alberta led the team in scoring during the regular season with 33 goals and 45 assists. He also led the Giants in power play goals (14), short handed goals (3), and game winning goals (8).
Machacek was selected by the Thrashers in the third round of the 2007 NHL Entry Draft (67th overall). He has appeared in 203 regular season games with the Giants, scoring 75 goals and 93 assists. He also appeared in 50 career WHL playoff games with Vancouver, scoring 20 goals and adding 21 assists.
