Rapid City Rush News Release
(Rapid City, SD) - For the third-consecutive season, the Rapid City Rush are headed to the Ray Miron Presidents' Cup Playoffs after a 4-0 shutout of the Bloomington Blaze on Tuesday night. In the final home game of the 2011-12 regular season, the Rush received 39 saves from freshly crowned 'Goaltender of the Week', Tim Boron, who earned his 3rd shutout of the year. The Rush received three-point efforts from Scott Wray (1G, 2A) Konrad Reeder (3A) and newly acquired forward Jake Morissette (2G, 1A) to lead the offensive charge. The squad has now won seven of their last nine games and is tied for second in the Turner Conference.
Rapid City's first round opponent and game dates have yet to be determined, but will be officially announced through numerous outlets once made official.
The Rush got all the offense they need in the opening period, firing out of the gate with three tallies. Anthony Perdicaro scored the opening goal, his 10th of the season, 5:20 into the frame on a wrist shot from the right circle. The Rush doubled the lead with six minutes left in the frame on Jake Morissette's first goal in a Rapid City uniform, a play set up by Konrad Reeder and Scott Wray. All three players would combine for another goal three minutes later, giving Rapid City a comfortable 3-0 advantage after 20 minutes.
Once again, the trio combined for a goal in the third period, this time it was Morissette and Reeder setting up Wray for his 25th of the season and the 4-0 win.
Tim Boron's 39-save effort served as his third shutout of the season and second against the Blaze. Just prior to the game, it was announced that the goaltender earned Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week honors.
