Dayton Gems News Release
Dayton, OH - The Dayton Gems professional hockey team, a proud member of the "AA" Central Hockey League, released additional details on the team's final home game and "Pack the House Night" presented in part by Greater Dayton RTA set for this Saturday, March 24 inside the historic Hara Arena.
The Gems final home game on March 24 is set as "Pack the House Night", with the team holding a special charity fundraiser for an injured local child. With Saturday quickly approaching, the Gems have announced on Wednesday that there were only 2,000 tickets remaining and encouraged fans to purchase theirs in advance to ensure best selection.
Caleb Zwiebel, a one year old infant from Lakeview, Ohio, was injured along with his parents in an automobile accident on August 9, 2011. After being contacted by a close family friend earlier in March, the Gems have stepped up to help the Zweibel family raise funds for Caleb's continued treatments. The Gems will be donating $1 from every ticket sold to the special March 24th game, and will donate an additional $2,000 to the Zweibel family if the game is sold out.
"Our family could have never imagined that we would face such a tragedy, and through lots of prayer and faith Caleb has come this far, commented Caleb's grandmother Hope. We are forever grateful to the Dayton Gems for having "Pack the House" night for Caleb. Through the generosity of the Gems fans and family we will be one step closer to the care he needs. The Dayton Gems have shown the values, love and spirit that the community was built on."
Additionally, the Gems have planned a spectacular ending to the season for fans, with the first 1,000 kids 12 and under receiving limited edition Gems "retro" youth jerseys presented by Greater Dayton RTA, as well as the team hosting a game-worn red jersey auction immediately following the game.
For fans arriving to the arena, the Gems will host live music featuring local band Nice Guy's Eddie performing on stage outside the Hara Arena main gates. The band, consisting of University of Dayton students, will begin entertaining fans weather permitting starting at 5:30pm. Face painters will also be on hand throughout the game.
With the 2011-2012 season drawing to a close, the Gems will be also holding a special exclusive merchandise sale during the game inside Lefty's Lounge, featuring photos, autographed memorabilia, surplus equipment and more for fans to take a piece of this season's Gems hockey.
Tickets for the special "Pack The House Night for Caleb Zwiebel" fundraiser are available now by calling the Gems ticket office at 275-7777 or by visiting www.DaytonGems.com . Additionally, the first 1,000 kids 12 and under will receive a limited edition Gems "retro" youth jersey, sponsored by Greater Dayton RTA.
Group ticket packages are also available in advance for as low as $8 per ticket and make it easy for groups of ten or more to enjoy a great game together for a great cause. Hurry, the deal expires on March 23.
