November 22, 2009 - Central Hockey League (CHL)
Rapid City Rush News Release

(Loveland, CO) - On Saturday, the Rapid City Rush picked up their first win ever at the Budweiser Events Center by a score of 3-2. The Rush turned the tables from the night before as they dominated the special teams. The Rush scored twice on seven powerplay while holding the Eagles scoreless on nine total powerplays including three 5-on-3 chances. Rapid City evened the season series at 2-2, and came away with two wins in their first three game series against Colorado.

The game's first tally came in the second period where for the four time in as many games against the Eagles, the Rush struck first. At the 3:51 mark, Brendon Hodge fired a one-timer past Eagles netminder Mike Mole for his sixth goal of the season. The powerplay goal snapped a streak of 24 scoreless powerplay chances for Rapid City. Just 35 seconds later, Colt King made it a 2-0 contest on yet another powerplay goal. The Eagles then took control of the period, and their pressure finally paid off as Ed McGrane fired a shot past Miguel Beaudry to make it 2-1 heading into the final period.

In the previous three games against the Eagles, the Rush had been outscored 8-0 in the third period. The Rush put an end to that as King collected his second of the game and team-leading 10th of the season at the 12:31 mark. Blaine Jarvis went hard to the net, and after his shot attempt was blocked by Mole, King was there to send home the rebound. Colorado would not fold however as Riley Nelson took a Kevin Ulanski pass and went top-shelf at 15:01 making it a one-goal contest yet again. With 1:20 left in the game, Mole was pulled for the extra-attacker and with 46 seconds left, the Rush were assessed a penalty to make it a 6-on-4. The Rush weathered the storm to pull out the 3-2 win.

Final shots favored the Eagles 36-24 and Rush goaltender Miguel Beaudry made 34 saves for his fourth win on the season. The Rush now move to 7-6-1 on the year as they now head to Wichita on Wednesday at 6:05pm MST.

The next home game for the Rush is Friday, November 27th at 7:05pm against the Mississippi RiverKings. Tickets are still available for that game.
